Harmon Unveils New Brand on Toronto Facility
In October, Harmon formalized its rebrand in Canada with the unveiling of the new Harmon logo on its world-class facility in Brampton, Ontario. This important milestone served as a culmination of the business’ efforts in the past 18 months to bring two iconic curtain wall companies together under one brand and one operating system.
One “Go-To-Market” Strategy
The change was prompted by Apogee Enterprises Inc.’s strategy review in fiscal 2022 which identified an opportunity for Apogee to streamline its approach to custom curtain wall. A plan was developed to create one commercial strategy with a focus on full value-stream installation projects to better leverage its project management expertise. As part of this change, Sotawall and Harmon were consolidated under one brand – Harmon.
In early 2023, the new logo was revealed to employees and customers to reinforce the strength of the merger—positioning the combined teams for increased productivity and higher core capabilities to execute jobs at a lower cost. Harmon reiterated its commitment to its customers with the intent to continue delivering on its promise to build trust and take its client visions to the next level.
AN EVOLUTION THAT STARTED IN 1989
Prior to joining Apogee and integrating with Harmon, the Sotawall brand evolved over the span of 25 years. Founded as Sota Glazing Systems Inc. in 1989, the company started with a staff of 10 employees. It continued to grow—adding employees, expanding facilities, and pursuing U.S. projects over the next three decades. By 2015, the company had rebranded as Sotawall, Inc., employed over 300 employees, and moved into a new, modern campus at 80 Van Kirk Drive, the location of Harmon Canada’s current operations today.
Sotawall was purchased by Apogee in December 2016 with an intent to drive the enterprise’s growth strategies by increasing its geographic presence and expanding its product offerings. The privately-held Sotawall Inc., a leading designer and fabricator of high-performance, unitized curtain wall systems for commercial construction projects in North America, was already a consistent partner on several Apogee projects.
A MODERN FACILITY WITH
A BOLD NEW LOGO
Now Harmon’s largest facility, the operations in Toronto combine fabrication and assembly manufacturing with contemporary working spaces for office staff. At over 300,000 square feet, the facility features ambient light, solar roof panels, and a thermally improved, double exterior wall. Its latest addition is the custom-printed glass panels that showcase the new Harmon logo, adorning both the South and East facades. The dramatic enhancement was a worthy cause for celebration.
In October 2023, an event was organized that included all the office and production staff at the location, in addition to a few visitors from Harmon’s headquarters. Harmon President Troy Johnson addressed the group, commenting on the marriage of these two great brands and initiating a group countdown to cue the grand reveal. The celebration continued with a group photo, barbeque lunch, and a commemorative cake.
ONE MISSION, ONE TEAM, BETTER TOGETHER
More than an eye-catching new visual on the Toronto facility, the logo represents something bigger… the strategic combination of operational excellence and world-class engineering capabilities. It tells the story of two brands coming together to become stronger and unlock value… One Mission, One Team, Better Together. This strategic partnership offers an unrivaled combination of cost and capability, positioning Harmon for future growth and success as part of Apogee’s commitment to Create Peak Value.
